Artwork Instructions
We often receive questions about vector files, resolution, and colors. To ensure a flawless and fast printing process for your promotional items, we have summarized the most important artwork guidelines below.
Vector Graphics (Shapes)
The most important benefit of using vector-based artwork is that the files can be enlarged endlessly without any quality loss. Vectors are based on mathematical equations (points, lines, curves) rather than pixels.
Accepted formats: EPS, AI (Adobe Illustrator), or PDF.
Important: Simply saving a .JPG or .PNG image as a .PDF or .EPS file does NOT vectorize it! It remains a pixel file.
Text & Fonts (Outlines)
If the text in your logo has not been converted to outlines and we do not have the specific font installed, our system will automatically replace it with an incorrect font or display question marks.
To avoid this, please ask your designer to convert all text into outlines (vectorize). If that is not possible, you must send us the font file (.ttf or .otf) along with your logo.
Raster Graphics (Pixels)
If providing a vector graphic is impossible, a high-resolution pixel file (JPG, TIF) might be usable. The file must have a resolution of at least 600 DPI. A 72 DPI image (web quality) is never suitable for printing.
A 300 DPI image is generally only good enough for printing photos, and only at the exact size supplied. If a 300 DPI file measuring 3 cm is enlarged to fit an umbrella, the definition drops drastically (e.g., to 45 DPI) and becomes blurred.
Colors & Pantones
It is crucial that correct Pantone colors (PMS) are supplied. Providing accurate PMS numbers prevents misunderstandings during production. We can also accept RAL or HKS, but PMS is preferred.
Please remember that colors on your computer screen (RGB) are only an impression and not a 100% match. The final printed result might differ slightly from the digital PDF proof.
Printing Rasters and Gradients
The promotional printing industry requires much coarser rasters (dots) than those used in glossy magazines. As a result, individual raster dots might be clearly visible to the naked eye on the finished product.
Everything printed with less than 30% color density may disappear completely, while anything over 70% density often fills in and appears as a solid color. Therefore, we always suggest replacing color percentages/gradients with a solid, lighter PMS spot color whenever possible.
Graphic Design & Preparation Pricing
Your artwork will first be reviewed by our graphics team, who will prepare a PDF visualization of your motif on the chosen item. The cost of preparing the graphic data depends heavily on the quality and format of the files you supply.
